Yahoo Mail Access Alert

May 8th, 2012 by steve

Yesterday, May 7, 2012 — a Monday — I noted an alert in the upper right corner of my Yahoo mail screen. When I clicked it, I was taken to a page that looked like this.

There are several things that confuse me about this. First, why does Yahoo think May 5, 2012 is a Tuesday. And second why does yahoo think would be an internet IP?

In any case, I changed my password.

The use of makes it appear that someone inside yahoo did it. Now I know how to spoof an IP, but when that is done the person doing the spoofing can’t get the results of a request. This is fine for a DOS attack, but not so good to access email.
